Nerve Release Surgery
When the tunnels that carry nerves to the hand and wrist become swollen, patients can experience pain, tingling, numbness and weakness. Dr. Sammer may perform a surgery to reopen the nerve tunnel and relieve pressure on the nerves.
Tendons are bands of tissue that usually connect muscle to bone. When they become inflamed or damaged, patients may experience pain and tenderness on the thumb side of the wrist, over the base of the finger, or may wake up with a finger stuck in the flex position.
Arthritis is a joint disorder that causes inflammation in areas where bones meet. Arthritis may be characterized by swollen joints, joint pain, finger stiffness, and difficulty moving.
Hand and wrist traumas may be caused by an accident, sports injury, crushing injury or other event that damages multiple components of the hand and wrist. Dr. Sammer works to assess the damage and plan a treatment and recovery program with the aim of restoring full functioning.
